Tap Life Increased by 30%: Our Coating Technology Upgrade Solves Wear Problems in High-Strength Steel Machining

Recently, aiming at the pain point of screw tap wear during high-strength steel machining, our company has completed a major upgrade to the coating process. Field tests have shown that the service life of the new screw tap has increased by 30%, which has been recognized by many factories.​
Traditional screw taps are prone to wear under high temperature and pressure when machining 45# steel, chromium-molybdenum steel, etc., requiring frequent replacement. This upgrade adopts TiAlN composite coating, which can withstand temperatures up to over 800℃ and has a hardness increased to HV3200. Combined with the multi-arc ion plating process, the coating adhesion has been enhanced by 40%, effectively preventing wear-induced failure.​
The supporting Tap set includes upgraded screw taps of various specifications, suitable for machining metric (M2-M30) and imperial (1/4-1 1/4) threads. When used with a dedicated Tap wrench, tool change becomes more convenient and downtime is reduced. After a certain auto parts factory adopted this Tap set, its daily production capacity increased by 8% and the defective rate dropped to 0.8%.​
